Cruel mum left baby in Bristol railway station toilet

(4/03/2009 ) A woman abandoned her baby boy at a railway station and fled to be with her lover, a court heard yesterday.

The 25-year-old mum of three left the eight-month-old boy strapped into a buggy in a toilet cubicle.

He was discovered 20 minutes later by cleaner Jennifer Davis, who told Newton Abbot magistrates: “I felt the baby’s hands, they were cold.”

The mother dumped the baby at Bristol Temple Meads station last November after deciding she wanted to stay with a new boyfriend she met on the internet, but was arrested within hours through items in the baby’s luggage.

The Paignton woman was convicted of abandoning the child. She denied the charge and will be sentenced later this month.
